Bioelectrogenesis

The concept of renewable sources of energy can be altered by the recent and exciting finding called bioelectrogenesis, a process from which bacteria can directly transfer electrons to solid conductive surfaces as graphite, so clean electricity can be harvested.

Our research is mainly focused on investigating and developing bioelectrogenic devices, with the aim of giving insights into the interface bacteria-electrode, but also with a strong applied component. We truly believe that investing time in studying the basic aspects of this novel technology will accelerate its development.
